From Temple 23, Yakuoji Temple, to Temple 24, Hotsumisakiji Temple, you can travel by train and bus in approximately 3 hours for around ¥3,040.

Walking the entire route takes about three days, making this a convenient option for walking pilgrims who want to save time.

This route requires several train and bus transfers. In particular, the following points can be confusing for first-time travelers:

  • Transfer to the JR Mugi Line replacement bus
  • Transfer to the Asa Coast Railway DMV
  • Connection to the bus bound for Muroto

The replacement bus departs from a bus stop rather than the train station, so please be careful not to go to the wrong boarding location.

Information Around the Stations

There are convenience stores and a roadside station near Hiwasa Station, making it a convenient place to rest and gather travel information.

There is also a large roadside station at Umi-no-Eki Toyocho where you can eat and take a break. However, there are no convenience stores nearby, so it is a good idea to prepare meals or snacks in advance.

Around Cape Muroto, accommodation facilities and convenience stores are available in central Muroto City. Please note that it is about 6 km from Hotsumisakiji Temple to downtown Muroto.
