From Temple 66, Unpenji, to Temple 67, Daikoji, the journey takes approximately 2–3 hours and costs ¥1,300 when using the ropeway and bus.

The distance is about 9 km and takes approximately 3 hours on foot.

First, take the Unpenji Ropeway down to the Sanroku Station. From Sanroku Station, walk approximately 5 km to the Marui-kita bus stop, then take the bus from Marui-kita to Daikoji-guchi. From Daikoji-guchi, walk approximately 1 km to Daikoji.

Mitoyo City Community Bus services are infrequent and do not operate on public holidays. Therefore, taking the bus when the schedule works well with your plans, and walking from Sanroku Station when the waiting time is long, are both good options.

Taking the Ropeway & Bus

Take the Unpenji Ropeway from Unpenji down to Sanroku Station. The ropeway fare is ¥1,200.

From Sanroku Station, walk approximately 5 km to the Marui-kita bus stop, then take the Mitoyo City Community Bus from Marui-kita to Daikoji-guchi. The bus fare is ¥100. From Daikoji-guchi, walk approximately 1 km to Daikoji.

Using the ropeway and bus allows you to avoid walking down the mountain from Unpenji. However, since you need to walk approximately 5 km to Marui-kita, the bus schedule is an important factor when planning your route.

Walking to Daikoji

The walking route is approximately 9 km and takes about 3 hours.

Although you need to walk farther than when using public transportation, you can travel at your own pace without worrying about the ropeway or bus schedules.

If the waiting time for the bus is long or you prefer to walk without worrying about timetables, walking is also a good option.
