It is possible to travel from Temple 87, Nagaoji, to Temple 88, Okuboji by bus.

Walking takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes to cover the 15 km route. By bus, however, the journey takes only about 30 minutes, with a fare of ¥200 on weekdays and ¥500 on weekends and holidays.

If you walk the pilgrimage trail, you will cover approximately 15 km from Nagaoji to Okuboji.

The elevation gradually increases as you approach Okuboji, so the route includes a long uphill section. The journey takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes, and it can be physically demanding, especially if you are already tired from visiting the previous temples.

Using the Bus

If you take the bus, walk approximately 500 m from Nagaoji to Higashi-cho Bus Stop, where you can board the Sanuki City Community Bus.

The bus takes you most of the way to Okuboji. Get off at Okuboji Bus Stop, which is approximately 100 m, or a 1-minute walk, from the temple.

In other words, you can travel most of the 15 km by bus, saving a significant amount of time and energy compared with walking the entire route.

One thing to be aware of on this route is the limited number of buses and differences in their routes.

Depending on the time of day, some buses do not stop at all of the bus stops around Nagaoji. This means that the bus stop you should use may depend on your departure time.
